During the first decade of the twentieth century the students of Purdue University created a distinctive set of fashion statements. Some of these continued for seventy years. Unfortunately, we do not have a specific ending date for any of these traditions. However, we do have starting dates. The earliest of these fashions statements was the senior "cords" or corduroys, also known as whistlers.
